Center of K-Academic expansion project (KAEP)
Welcome to the K-Academic Expansion Project — a global hub for advancing Korean philosophy. The K-Academic Expansion Project was established on July 1, 2021, under the Institute of Korean Philosophy and Culture at Sungkyunkwan University, with support from the Ministry of Education and the Korean Studies Promotion Service at the Academy of Korean Studies. Since then, over the past four years, we have worked to create and distribute online content that bridges the past, present, and future of Korean philosophy—while also connecting domestic and international academic communities.
We understand Korean philosophy not as a relic of the past, but as a living tradition—constantly reinterpreted and reconstructed through Korea’s evolving identity at the intersection of cultural boundaries. At our center, we seek to explore why Korean philosophy continues to matter today and how it can provide meaningful responses to the universal questions of humanity. Through this inquiry, we aim to produce educational content that brings Korean philosophy into active dialogue with the global philosophical community.
We invite you to explore our lectures and engage with the living legacy of Korean philosophy.
