Class Introduction

This course provides a cultural and historical background for an introduction to Korean philosophy, requiring no prior knowledge of philosophy. Anyone interested in Korean culture through K-dramas or K-pop, or interested in philosophy from a multicultural perspective, is welcome. While interest in Korean culture is growing, few courses explore the fascinating subject of Korean philosophy. This course introduces the concepts of Korean philosophy through an exploration of the Korean language, culture, and perspectives. Korea's cultural, social, and political environment has influenced and shaped intellectual capital in China and the West. By exploring the creative tensions experienced by Koreans and discovering new philosophical approaches, you will broaden your worldview.
